Decided to get into the spirit of Halloween? Want to host a ‘spook-tacular’ fest this weekend, but afraid you won’t have enough time to pull it off? No worries! Below are some great tips to plan your bash, keep on top of very detail and save big at the same time!

Invitation List

Make a guest list and create a party event on Facebook with all the details and invite all your guests, if some of them don’t have Facebook, send them a quick email and ask them to confirm. Simple, easy and no confusion.

Decorations

Keep it really simple! Pick a common Halloween theme such as a Haunted House or Pumpkin Galore – Something where you could easily find decorations at your local party store or dollar store. Find your local party store’s flyer by browsing though PriceReel’s store section. Be sure to call ahead and make sure they have all the decorations you are looking for in-store before you go.

Costumes

Encourage your guests to dress up, but also be prepared to accommodate them for the short notice by grabbing some Halloween masks, hats or headbands, scarves and other fun wearable items. Use Price Reel to search for items on sale, at the closest location near your home.

Music

If you don’t have a stereo or sound system for music, try grabbing a Bluetooth speaker instead. Many great brands such as Bose, offer full high quality audio all in a small compact Bluetooth speaker. Browse PriceReel for a speaker and enter your price range – find the closest store near you, call ahead to confirm product and pick it up when you get a chance. Also utilize music steaming sights with pre-curated Halloween party music playlists to save you time from digging up your old CDs or downloading music. Good steaming websites include Spotify or Songza.

Food – Keep it Simple!

Finger food, finger food, finger food – That is all you need!

Always offer a vegan option which could simply be a veggie or fruit platter with a delicious vegan dip or frozen veggie samosas, spring rolls and perogies.

Try to also keep it peanut free for those with severe peanut allergies. Offer things like mini quiches, cold cuts platter, cheese platter, meatballs – All of which you can purchase frozen at your local grocery stores – utilize Price Reels sections to see which appetizers and snacks vendors have on sale.

Make a list of all the items (including drink items outlined below) and plan your route of where you will pick up all your items.

Drinks

The general rule of thumb for drinks is as follows:

  • Wine: One bottle per two people per hour
  • Beer: Two per person per hour
  • Spirits: One bottle per five people per hour
  • Mixers: Three bottles for each bottle of alcohol
  • Ice: At least one pound per person per hour

Make a list of specific drinks that your guests will like, including the materials you will need to make them, such as fruit, pop, olives, etc.

Disposable Tableware

Make a list of everything you need and keep in mind the number of guest. The rule of thumbs is typically 2 items per person.

  • Cups
  • Cutlery (forks, knives, spoons – depending on dish)
  • Plates and bowls
  • Napkins

Don’t forget about serving dishes, serving spoons and tongs, as well as table cloths.

This may seem like a lot of things to do, but once you have a plan and you stick to it, you will knock everything off your list in a heartbeat!

Have yourself a very Happy Halloween!
