Don’t worry, you got this! Thanksgiving cooking doesn’t have to be a nightmare. Here are few great tips to help you get your through your first big dinner:

  1. Start Developing Your Skills Now! – Start making small meals for yourself that incorporate a variety of cooking techniques such as baking, frying, boiling, slicing, dicing and more.
  2. Ask For Advice – Love your mom’s turkey or maybe a friend or family member’s style of turkey, ask them how they prepped, marinated and cooked it. Ask them which ingredients they used, cooking time, and which side dishes compliment it.
  3. Limit You Guest List – Inviting too many people can be make meal prep scary, overwhelming and stressful, limit you guest to only close family and friends.
  4. Stick to the Classics – Choose classic recipes such as mashed potatoes, roasted potatoes, steamed green beans or brussels sprouts. Also choose recipes with fewer ingredients and smaller cooking process.
  5. Keep the Drink Selection Simple – A couple bottles of wine, some ginger ale or cola, and a pitcher of water should suffice. Also coffee or espresso for dessert would be great.
  6. Store Bought Additions – Don’t be afraid to pick up a few additional items if you planned to cook turkey and side dishes. Run down to your local bakery and grab delicious pumpkin pie for dessert. It’s your first time, don’t stress!
