Shop for Gifts Online and Save Money

As super awesome and convenient online shopping is, when it comes to holiday shopping, it can be quite overwhelming. From price comparison, shipping deadlines and costs to finding the best coupon and making sure you get everything on your list, it can truly be daunting.

But if you have a strategy in place, a clear mind and glass milk and delicious cookies with some cheery Christmas tunes on to lift your spirits, you can conquer your online shopping endeavors!

Below are the vital tips that will help you get everything on your list, save you time and money!

1. Price Comparison

Conduct a price comparison search on PriceReel to get a general sense of which retailers have your gift items at the best price. Compare shipping costs, return policies and whether they provide gift receipts and make a list of the top retailers you may buy from.

2. Email Newsletters

Once you have the list of potential retailers from your initial price comparison search on PriceReel, visit the retailers’ websites and sign up for their newsletters. Typically, retailers offer 10-20% off discount codes for new shoppers. Compile those discount codes on a list.

3. Honey

Install the browser extension Honey to generate additional discount codes that may not have been provided in the newsletters – Pro Tip: Use Honey mostly on regular priced items, as codes may also apply to items that are already discounted from the retailer. For example, say a retailer has a 40% sale on a particular item in your cart, and the rest of the items are regular price. Then suppose Honey generated a discount code that 25% off. If you apply this code to the all the items in your cart, the item that is 40% may become only 25% off. In this case, it’s best to split up your order by regular price items and sale items.

4. Shipping

Most retailers around this time will offer free shipping with an order over a certain amount. Try to pick retailers that offer more variety, so you could grab multiple gifts in one go unless it is niche, custom or locally crafted gift.

5. Wrapping

Wait until all your gifts arrive before heading to the store to grab wrapping materials. Sometimes items actually come in nice packaging that you could simply add a bow too. Some items may also be in odd shapes, making it difficult to wrap. Also, keep in mind transportation too. If you are flying home with the gifts, if it may be best to run to the local dollar store and wrap there, or carry a bunch of gift bags, cards and tissue paper that you could lay flat in your suitcase.

Happy Shopping! 🙂
