It’s almost that time of year again, folks. Break out your faux spiderweb, plastic gravestones, and witch hats, because Halloween planning is officially underway!
Halloween poses as the perfect opportunity to round up all your friends. After all, who doesn’t love dressing up, and promises of free candy? Even still, every year when the spooky holiday comes back comes back around, we ask ourselves the same question we did the year before: how can I tow the line between throwing a cheap party, but have it not look cheap?
Just because everyone’s an adult, it doesn’t mean that we do not love our free candy! Luckily for us, sweets can be bought pretty cheap in bulk, especially if you buy them before the ‘Halloween Rush’. Creating goodie bags for each of your guests would definitely have them leaving the party on a sweet note! Pair it with these Halloween cards from Annie, and everyone will be glad they came!
No, we don’t mean the whole shebang. Instead of starting from scratch, get a mix from the grocery store that will effectively cut the time in half, and save you a ton on other groceries! To make it themed, simply get icing and applicable food coloring colors, and voila! Setting this up will seriously take no time at all, but your guests will be impressed that you took the extra mile to make the party special!
Games with little preparation can still be extremely fun. For example, bobbing for apples is a classic for a reason: it’s entertaining, easy to set up, and extremely cheap! On the more ‘adult’ side of things, drinking games can easily be implemented. One example is creating a list of Halloween phrases that people can’t say, and sticking it to the door for them to see upon entry. If they slip up and do say a word listed, then they have to take a drink! Similarly, you can take games like beer pong and just swap out red solo cups for Halloween printed ones. Fun and simple.
Easier said than done, we know! While making your own costume can run a little time consuming, there are plenty of cheap DIY tutorials on Pinterest to help you out! The costume that gets the most buzz is seldom the one that has had the most money poured into it, but is the one that can make people laugh. For example, wearing a shirt that says ‘Life’ and carrying around a basket of lemons to give to guests is likely enough!
If you want to have a cheap Halloween, we think that expectations should remain realistic. And yes, you can still have an amazing Halloween party without the best decorations in the world. After all, the reason why everyone showed up in the first place is to socialize, not to scrutinize your decorating skills. So, in this department, do what you can with the money that you have – make decorations out of balloons and garbage bags, and embrace the quality because who cares!
Halloween is only a few weekends away, and if you’re planning to have a party, it’s time to begin planning. Enjoy the tips above, and happy hunting!
